Leidos QTC Health Services seeks a Director of Data Engineering & GovernanceÂ
Leidos QTC Health Services is undergoing a significant modernization effort in the way it builds software by moving away from monolithic applications towards microservices, automation, and elastic infrastructure. As the Data Engineering & Governance Director, you will help Leidos QTC Health Services on its transformation journey by working closely with stakeholders, understanding the enterprise landscape and current challenges, designing innovative solutions that focus on the big picture, and working with delivery teams to ensure proper implementation. You will also serve as a change agent, coach, educator and facilitator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify and recruit new technical talent, to include development and mentoring mid to senior level technical staff
- Plan and manage skills development and training for team members.
- Monitor team performance and initiate action to remedy
- Review and analyze business and technical requirements
- Translate business needs into long-term architecture vision, strategy, and roadmaps with a focus on data governance and data maturity
- Design and recommend enterprise-class data solutions that are performant, scalable, secure, and resilient
- Analyze, plan, and define data architecture frameworks, including reference data, metadata, and master data
- Work with engineering teams on SQL and No-SQL database design, data warehousing architecture, implementation, securing, tuning, and backup/recovery
- Create and deliver proposals and presentations on enterprise data architecture
- Document enterprise data architecture and architectural decisions
- Visualize and document current-state and future-state data architectures
- Keep designs and architectures current with each delivery increment
- Communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Create and communicate enterprise guidelines, standards, and reference architectures
- Promote the use of shared platforms and services
- Keep abreast of technological advancements, industry trends, and major vendors
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Competencies:
- Demonstrated track record in architecting, implementing and maintaining large-scale data solutions for structured and unstructured data and using SQL and No-SQL databases
- Solid knowledge in all major areas of data engineering and architecture:
- Programming skills in SQL and Python
- SQL Server, Oracle, NoSQL DBs, data lakes/warehouses, ETL, master data mgmt., analytics, BI, and ML/AI
- Data modeling, mining, managing, warehousing, cleansing, visualization and reporting
- Data security, authentication/authorization, encryption, privacy, scalability, and resiliency
- Azure, AWS, SDLC, CI/CD, DevOps, and agile/scrum
- Knowledge of microservices, APIs, messaging, logging and monitoring, and integration is a plus
- Experience in vendor platform evaluations including criteria and scorecard development
- High attention to detail and strong analytical, organizational, and task management skills
- Strong leadership skills to include collaboration, communication and presentation, ability to influence others, strategic thinking, and accountabilityÂ
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college in Computer Science or a related discipline w/ 14 years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience managing/leading teams or projectsÂ
- Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus
- Azure or AWS certification highly desirable
- Must be able to successfully pass National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation
