Position Overview
Receive, stock, ship, order and count inventory items. This is an en tr y level position that is responsible for the safe ope r a t i o n of a forklift in order to stock all lumber and building materials. Perform duties within the established work and safety pro cedures.
Essential Job Duties
- Ope r a t e safely.
- Participate in a positive work environment
- Assist warehouse associates and direct supervisor in maintaining an organized work environment. May include, emptying tr ash receptacles, and keeping all bays and staging areas c lea n and organized.
- Receive incoming pro d u cts, commodities and materials.
- Pro vides Excellent Customer Service
- Count and record receipt of materials.
- Stock all material received in ap pro priate b ins or storage locations.
- Assist inventory con tr ol in counting and organizing warehouse materials.
- Comply with all company policies and gui del ines.
- Ope r a t e forklift with foot and hand con tr ols.
- May use forklift to build out going orders or to load completed orders onto del iv e r y equipment
- Ope r a t e facility equipment as necessary ( e.g. bander, power tools, various hand tools).
- Monitor inventory as required by location management.
- Retain an awareness of the work environment critical to the task at hand to pro d u ce error free and damage free results.
- Participates in and completes assigned tr ainings .
- Other duties as assigned by Management
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Minimum education preferred -High school diploma or GED.
- No experience required . Will tr ain.
- Ability to do basic math, read orders, write ins tr u ctions and complete forms.
- Ability/willingness to lea rn to read a tape measure.
- Ability to effectively and pro fessionally communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal and written skills .
- Ability to deal cons tr u ctively with conflict and recognize potential pro blems.
- Pro ficiency with or ability to lea rn current technologies ( e.g. Smartphone, Inventory Con tr ol Systems, and other necessary business applications).
- Physical demands include standing and walking for extended periods of time, exposure to ex tr eme temperatures, bending or stooping, regularly lifting up to 50 pounds and frequently up to 100 pounds or more.
