Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is currently seeking a Sr Principal Metrology Engineer to provide support to our SDS Receiving Inspection Team. Selected candidate will support SMA functions to ensure mission success. This position will be located in Ogden, Utah.

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Develops and creates automated Metcal procedures for new and existing equipment per original equipment manufactures specifications.

  • Tests and modifies procedures for engineering changes or program improvements.

  • Trains all team members to new and revised procedures.

  • Updates database as required. Ensures all calibration software and server is updated with new revisions as necessary.

  • Creates crystal reports to pull information contained in database, this will include calibration metrics and customer reports.

  • Develops calibration uncertainty budgets. Performs gage R&R's as required.

  • Creates preventive maintenance program and monitors calibration standards to ensure stable outputs.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.   

You’ll Bring These Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's of Science degree with 8 Years of related experience; or 6 Years of related experience with Masters; or 3 Years of related experience with a PhD

  • Experience in METTEAM database management and/or METCAL programming.

  • Electronic troubleshooting and/or calibration

  • Experience with one or more of the following industry standards ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI Z540, ISO-9000/AS9100.

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance or higher with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have: 

  • Must be proficient in Crystal Report writing.

  • Experience calculating measurement uncertainty.

  • METCAL programming and ability to design and develop automated calibration procedures for complex M&TE using multifaceted standards.

  • Experience creating and revising work instructions, operating manuals and procedures

  • Able to quickly create reports for management and customers showing the lab status.

  • Knowledge of engineering drawings, engineering specifications

  • Understand and perform gage R&R

  • Experience in analyzing metrics to identify shifts, drifts or trends

Salary Range: $114,900 - $172,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
