Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Deployment Field Engineer.  This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program. 

 

What You’ll Get To Do: 

 

Join the Deployment team for Sentinel and take part in engineering solutions to deploy and deliver a state-of-the-art weapon system to our customer. This position requires a highly motivated self-starter with knowledge in system integration, field installations and deployment, and checkouts of engineered products. The candidate will be involved in all engineering activities supporting the deployment of critical systems for the Sentinel program. 

Job role and responsibilities: 

  • Provides advisory and planning services for weapon system-based training with knowledge of the relevant Uniform Joint Task List associated with Security Forces (SF) ICBM Operations. 

  • Oversees development of specifications, design, interface control and production of all Security Forces related training devices. 

  • Provides vision, execution planning, and technical and resource guidance for Training Device interoperability with Operations, Cybersecurity, and Integrated Command Center (ICC) training elements. 

  • Serves as subject matter expert for ICBM Security Forces operations throughout EMD, Production & Deployment phases, including current advances in the field. 

  • Provides technical and analytical guidance to project teams relative to Sentinel physical security systems, sensors, and Priority Level-1 (PL-1) facility/asset protection. 

  • Integrates and develops Sentinel Security concept of operations with USAF intel and security working groups as well as internal NGC Product teams. 

  • Leverages common Training Support Team (TST) “Training as a Service” approaches and applies them to delivered technical content to USAF initial cadre. 

  • Supports or leads on interactions with senior external personnel on significant security technical matters requiring coordination between USAF organizations 

  • Integrates Security Forces training approaches to Collaborative Virtual Launch Procedures Trainer (CVLPT)

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. 

 

You’ll Bring These Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science with 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's with 6 years of relevant experience; or PhD with 4 years of relevant experience. 4 additional years of applicable experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree. 

  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, and a current Special Access Program (SAP) 

  • Program experience or related program experience 

  • Extensive expertise with AFGSC operations training processes, Enlisted and Officer Air Force Specialty Codes (AFSC), and Ratings 

  • Security forces operations experience and SF expertise in USAF approach to Priority Level-1 (PL-1) assets 

  • Understanding of Security Forces training devices or training solutions related to complex weapon systems and/ or the ICBM mission 

  • Expertise working with Security Forces training systems, simulators, instruction in classroom and interactive environments 

  • Expertise in how Security Forces training metrics and feedback are used to drive positional evaluation and certification processes IAW applicable AFGSC Instructions 

  • Familiarity with advanced security technologies, methods, processes and tools 

  • Experience planning and implementing Security Forces training and evaluation programs 

  • Thorough knowledge of nuclear surety/safety roles of physical and electronic protection systems relative to the ICBM nuclear deterrence mission 

  • Ability to interpret facility designs and design changes impacts to ICBM Security Forces training 

  • Security Forces Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTP) development and TTP training approaches at the MAJCOM, NAF and operations unit levels 

 

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have: 

  • Experience with Minuteman III Wing Operations Center Concept applicable to the Sentinel Integrated Command Center (ICC) CONOPS 

  • Understanding of ICBM training devices and approaches specific to the ICBM mission 

  • ICBM Security Forces training expertise 

  • MAJCOM Security Forces policy development experience 

  • Hands-on field experience related to ICBM Security Forces as Response Team member, Flight Security Controller (FSC), Wing Security Control (WSC) and Tactical Response Force (TRF) 

  • Experience applying new advanced learning technologies, methods, processes and tools 

  • Experience planning and implementing training programs for weapons systems 

  • Training curriculum and learning management planning experience 

  • Previous access to Critical Nuclear Weapons Design Information (CNWDI) and eligibility to re-instate access (if not current) 

  • Experience with USSTRATCOM and AFGSC ICBM Battlespace Awareness initiatives 

  • Knowledge of ICBM Weapon Storage Area (WSA) interface to MMIII and Sentinel weapon systems 

  • Experience with Mighty Guardian, Global Thunder and Constant Vigilance exercise approaches for Security Forces in the ICBM field 

  • Knowledge of AFGSC Strategic Security Plan (SSP) 

  • Ground Combat Training Squadron (GCTS) experience, particularly in training facility design 

  • Security Forces training curriculum development 

  • Nuclear Security Training and Combat Airman Skills Training (CAST) relative to the ICBM mission 

  • Nuclear convoy operations experience 

  • Experience in helicopter, ICBM crew operations and maintenance TTP integration with ICBM Security Forces 

  • Certified Security Forces Instructor/Evaluator experience 

  • Experience working Internal Research and Development projects 

Salary Range: $95,000 - $142,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
