Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking Staff Engineer Software – 13978. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel program.

What You’ll Get To Do:

  • Design, develop, document, test and debug real time embedded software/system simulation.
  • Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of embedded systems for safety and mission critical software.
  • Ensure program mandated software standards and compliance criteria are met.
  • Understand and can develop in a continuous integration tool chain environment meeting technical and compliance requirements.
  • Identify, analyze, and adjudicate software deficiencies.
  • Lead a team of software engineers by mentoring, coaching, and providing technical expertise.
  • Understand project milestones/timeline and provide accurate reporting metrics.
  • Perform trade studies to determine efficacy of software architecture and design.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Job Qualifications: 

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • 12 Years with Bachelors in relevant field of study; 10 Years with Masters; 8 Years with PhD or 04 additional years in lieu of a degree.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years.
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
  • 10+ years experience in developing software/writing code in C/C++/C#, Python, Java, or similar programming language
  • 10+ years experience architecting/designing and/or developing simulator applications
  • 10+ years experience in object-oriented programming and design patterns, hardware/software communication interfaces, real-time and post processing data analytics
  • 5+ years of full life cycle of software development and Agile software development
  • 5+ years experience designing/informing software architecture, mentoring/coaching junior engineers, and ensuring project milestones are met.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Real Time Component Framework (RTCF)
  • Experience developing missile flight systems software
  • Experience developing software for a hard real time system or hardware devices
  • Experience with front end GUI development
  • Security + Certification
  • Able to assimilate information from multiple sources, create coherent plans and then execute those plans
  • Familiarity with security coding standard best practices, static and dynamic scanning tools, i.e., SonarQube, Fortify, Coverity, PCLint, etc.

Salary Range: $147,700 - $221,500
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
