Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Staff Engineer Test. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel – Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You’ll Get To Do:
Northrop Grumman Strategic Deterrent Systems division in Roy, UT is seeking a Staff Test Engineer to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be part of our Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) Integration and Test (I&T) team to plan and execute GN&C level integration, test and checkout activities supporting the Sentinel, formerly Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD), program. A successful candidate shall be able to:
- Define test requirements and test objectives, using Systems Engineering principles
- Integrate hardware from sub-system teams, interface with other elements teams, and the system and segment level teams.
- Perform system integration, verification and validation, and functional & performance analyses for an integrated guidance system.
- Perform data collection and analysis against system requirements and interfaces for multiple software builds and hardware components.
- Prepare detailed test plans, reports and support formal verification of a system.
- Perform integration, regression, and verification testing including checkout in a lab environment.
- Be able to apply a well-versed understanding of guidance system principles to successfully verify system functionality and performance in a multitude of scenarios and conditions.
- Prepare for and execute Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs)
- Support Guidance level testing in the lab and potentially dynamic testing in the field.
- Ensure the creation of technical data packages for the Guidance Integrated Test Line (GITL) test bed (and other unique test beds) including the test bed concept of operations, interfaces, functional block diagrams, layouts, performance specifications, safety considerations, and security considerations.
- Coordinate GITL design progress with stakeholders throughout the GITL lifecycle.
- Mentor junior engineers on the team.
- Participate in technical exchange meetings, interfacing with customers (internal/external).

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
14 years of relevant experience with a Bachelors Degree; 12 years with a Masters; 9 years with a PhD; 4 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
US Citizenship with an Active Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to receive a Special Access Program (SAP) certification.
Familiarity with role of real-time simulators in HWIL usage
Experience verifying system & software requirements
Experience with test equipment design, test plan/procedure development, test execution, and test reporting
Experience with systematic conversion of Systems Engineering, customer, product, and end-user requirements into test equipment systems solutions
Experience with guidance systems in aerospace applications.
Familiar with model-based Systems Engineering and associated tools (e.g. DOORS, Cameo).
Familiar with scripting languages (e.g. Matlab, Python).
Strong communication skills including technical writing and verbal communication
Proficient in MS Office Products – Powerpoint, Word, Visio, Excel
Strong understanding of entire product lifecycle, modeling and engineering best practices
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
US Citizenship with an Active Top-Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to receive a Special Access Program (SAP) certification.
Experience with ICBMs (MM, PK, Small Missile) or DOD programs
Experienced with Guidance Systems for ICBMs
Strong Systems Engineering background and understanding of Systems Engineering concepts (i.e. requirements, verification planning, Model-Based Systems Engineering)
Experience with JIRA and Confluence

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
