Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. The hospital has a 24-hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital.Â

The Inpatient Pharmacy at Missouri Baptist Medical Center consists of a Central Pharmacy including an ISO Class 5 Clean Room for sterile product preparation and satellite pharmacies in the Operating Room, the Cancer/Infusion Center, and satellites or decentralized pharmacists on several inpatient floors. The pharmacy department supports robust Medication Therapy Services for inventory management and Pyxis ES for decentral medication storage, an electronic medical record, and smart pump technology with dose error reduction software. The Pharmacy program at MoBap also administers an ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice residency program.

Role Purpose
Assess, monitor, initiate and modify medication use according to patient condition and age specific criteria. Ensure prompt and accurate medication preparation and dispensing. Prevent, direct and resolve medication-related issues. Supervise and direct supportive personnel. Counsel and educate to promote optimal drug therapy. Direct and assist in the procurement, storage, distribution and disposal of medications.
