Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Staff Electronics Engineer - Sensors Sub-IPT Lead to our team in Rancho Bernardo, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization supporting MQ-4C Triton Program.
This is a position within the Triton Mission Systems Integrated Product Team (MS IPT) responsible for developing, delivering, and sustaining the mission payloads on the Triton air vehicle and ground segments. The selected candidate will lead the Sensors/Payload team.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the activities of a team (internal and suppliers) to build and integrate sensors into aircraft and ground segment systems
- Provide technical oversight and reviews of engineering from internal team and suppliers (potential supplier value >$100M across all contracts)
- Manage the technical, cost, and schedule performance of the team’s deliverables
- Manage technical and programmatic risks, opportunities, and issues
- Report status of all tasks to IPT Director, Program Managers, Chief Engineers, and other management
- Research, design, develop, and test a variety of electronic equipment and systems, including radar and radiation detection equipment; radio, television and other communications equipment and systems; circuitry components; analog and digital computers; and control and test equipment.
Once in role, this position could offer a hybrid work environment. Scheduled telework days are approved at manager's discretion. This role requires the ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 7 years of related engineering experience.
- Experience leading an engineering team or project
- Experience with payload/sensor systems engineering and integration
- Active in-scope, DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret (TS) clearance once in position. This TS must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
- At some point, selected candidate may be required to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP). This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active in-scope, DoD Top Secret clearance
- Supplier management experience
- Cost Account Management experience
- Risk/Opportunity/Issue management experience related to complex hardware and software subsystems
- Advanced working knowledge of EO/IR, Radar, or SIGINT technical principles, theories, and concepts.
- Proven success as a technical team lead, solving complex technical issues.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to include written and verbal communication
- Experience executing the engineering project life cycle including: requirements analysis, design, development, integration, validation, verification, and sustainment
- Demonstrated success in leading, collaborating, and developing cross functional teams of varying degrees of skill on complex technical projects
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
