SUMMARY
Responsible for operations, procedures, systems, techniques, and equipment related to robotic/hybrid laser welding. Lead and manage robotic/hybrid laser welding operations Coordinates with Steel production and works effectively with regulatory bodies and customer representatives. Reports directly to the Assistant Manager of the Thin Plate Panel Line. Supervises various trades as required. Maintains internal contact with Yard Maintenance, Engineering, Welding Engineering, vendors, subcontractors, customer representatives, regulatory agencies and classification societies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Leads robotic/hybrid laser welding operations including, but not limited to: programming, daily maintenance, dimensional inspections, equipment inspections and weld quality visual inspections.
Manages programs, systems and techniques.
Ensures completeness and accuracy of robotic/hybrid laser welding and associated welding documentation.
Implements quality control procedures and monitors production to ensure compliance with requirements
Acts as liaison with customer representatives, classification societies, and military agencies in order to resolve welding and fabrication issues. Reviews and provides specification interpretation
Develops and implements welding techniques and qualifies weld procedures for specific applications.
Assigns work toone or more trade employees and has the authority to make effectiveperformance recommendations.
Actively participates in implementing and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, improve quality, reduce cycle times and costs.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Requires an Associates degree in Welding, Manufacturing, or similar andminimum2 years experience as an Operating Robotics Technician, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Must have proven experience in Welding, Electrical Systems, Computer Programming, Personnel Management, Quality Assurance, Planning and be certified as an AWS Robotic Arc or Hybrid Laser Arc Operator.
Knowledge of various types of welding processes, equipment, filler materials and NDT methods.
Practical experience utilizing the Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) process, as well as experience operating a Hybrid Laser Arc Welding system preferred.
Demonstrated task management skills with a record of successfully performing assigned tasks to scheduled milestones.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to engage in independent decision-making and problem solving.
Basic computer skills in Microsoft word, Excel and Power Point.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work occurs in both an outdoor shipyard environment and in an office setting.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Additionally, position requires the ability to distinguish color Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing. Requires ability to commute physically to various areas of the shipyard including but not limited to shipboard activities. Must be capable of ascending/descending stairs or ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, and transiting through manholes and other confined, congested spaces. Physical dexterity must allow for bending and reaching. Position requires employees to carry, raise, lower, push or pull objects up to 25lbs. Must remain alert and comply with all safety requirements. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed occasionally to dust, fumes, and smoke. Must be able to spend up to 50% of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climates. The noise level is relatively low to moderate in office environments. The noise level in the outdoor shipyard production environment is moderate to noisy 70% of time which may include sirens, horns, chipping, and hammering.
PAY SCALE
I $74,500 - $97,500
II $83,400 - $118,200
III $112,200 - $145,200
This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
