Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Software Engineer or a Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Software organization. This role is in Rancho Bernardo, CA and will be primarily based within our office spaces to support program and business needs. Operating on our 9/80 schedule meaning you will get every other Friday off. This position may have some Hybrids work available.
In this role you will design, develop, integrate, and test software for our end-user customers and businesses. Specifically, you will be responsible for the design, development, and administration of embedded and real time systems. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams, such as with Systems Engineering, Test Automation, DevSecOps and Systems Test, in an Agile software development environment.Â

**This position may be filled by either a Software Engineer or a Principal Software Engineer level based on the qualifications listed. **
Essential Functions:
Work independently in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative team settings across all levels.
Participate in the full software development life cycle including requirements, design, implementation, qualification, and delivery of software products to our customers.
Operate in an embedded technology development environment working with real time operating systems for use in flight and mission critical systems.
Work in Agile Scrum teams to develop software products for multiple software baselines.
Basic Qualifications:
Software Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 2 Years experience; OR a master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 0 Years experience
Principal Software Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 5 Years experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 3 Years experience; OR a PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 1 Years experience
Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP)
Experience with C++, Python, and Object-Oriented Programming.
Experience with Wind River VxWorks.
Experience with Agile software development, embedded system programming, software integration and testing.
Experience with Lab/HW experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with developing software used for real-time Flight Critical and Safety critical software.
Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Experience with two of the following tools: Jira, Crucible, Bitbucket, Subversion, Bamboo, Jenkins, SonarQube, Fortify, or Coverity.
Experience with multiple bus data interfaces, including communicating and managing the health of external devices.
Experience with Northrop Grumman's Real Time Component Framework (RTCF).
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
Experience with CoreVMS.
Basic understanding of Device Drivers and their configuration.
Strong understanding of layered software architectures (e.g., Application, System, I/O).
Experience with NG SIL and RVT Tests, Google Unit Tests.
Salary Range 2: $110,300 - $165,500
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
