Location: Onsite 2 days/week in San Francisco, CA
Pay Range: $40-50/hr. W2 (depending on experience)
Jefferson Wells is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist for a 6-month opportunity with our client located in San Francisco. Key duties include ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with company policies and tax regulations. Ideal candidates have current or recent experience with multi-state payroll and strong Excel skills, preferably in a professional services firm, law firm, or similar environment.
Responsibilities:Â
- Process regular and off-cycle payroll for employees accurately and timely.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Prepare and maintain payroll records and reports.
- Assist with payroll-related inquiries from employees and management.
- Track and calculate payments for Leave of Absence, applying relevant policies.
- Manage employee benefit deductions, retirement plans, and non-cash benefits.
- Apply IRS rules on non-cash benefits and complex tax scenarios.
- 5+ years of payroll processing experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Proficient in Payroll systems, HRIS systems, and Microsoft Office (with strong Excel capabilities).
- FPC or CPP certifications a plus.
- Highly detail oriented, determined, collaborative, and organized in work with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Eligible to work in the U.S. and pass a background check.
- Must be able to be onsite twice weekly in San Francisco, CA.
- Pay rate range = $40-50/hr. W2 (depending on experience).
- Full-time Contract; 6 months in duration with potential to extend.
