Senior Principal Power Engineer

These technologies are rapidly changing and we’re developing the supplier base and internal capabilities to always stay ahead of demand.  We’re involved in assessing the competition, developing technology and product strategies, and ensuring the supply base and Dell manufacturing operations are ready for the change. We lead technology investigations, analyze industry capabilities and recommend potential vendor partner opportunities or make/buy solutions. Our insights influence product designs and definitions, and we work with colleagues across the business to ensure our products always lead the way.

What you’ll achieve

Participate in the development of next-generation large-scale AI Infrastructure with focus on leading power systems – power supplies, transformers, power distribution units, bus systems, backup supplies, etc.  Engage with high profile AI customers to optimize solutions for their applications.  Work closely with the suppliers, CTO organization, and hardware engineering to enable the Power technologies supply base to move at scale.  Additionally, partner with Procurement and Operations to lead longer term supplier and category strategies.

You will:

Lead critical industry relationships with the supply base to develop advanced networking technologies for AI solutions.  Help develop business cases for future product strategies and position supply base for working in the Dell supply chain at scale.  Specific activities include:

  • Supplier Engagement: Engage with the supplier base on future technologies, identifying and developing their technical capabilities
  • Supply Base Development: Build and mature the technical supply base to increase the number of potential sources
  • Time to Market Improvement: Improve speed to market and delivery by benchmarking customers to drive product standardization and eliminate custom designs
  • Next-Generation Readiness: Enhance readiness for next-generation (N+1, N+2) solution components
  • Cost and Supply Continuity: Build a product advantage in cost and/or continuity of supply for AI solutions
  • Procurement Collaboration: Engage with procurement on supplier development strategies

Desirable Requirements

  • 15+ years industry experience with bachelor’s degree or equivalent skill

Compensation: Dell is committed to Fair and Equitable compensation practices. The Base Salary Range for this role is $192,000 – $286,000.
