What you’ll achieve
As a member of the Networking HW Engineering team, the Cables & Optics Engineer will be responsible for the verification and qualification of complex copper cables and optical fiber transceiver modules in various systems, primarily in the 10 Gbit/s – 1600 Gbit/s range. This role requires collaboration with xfunctionalHW & SW Engineering team, including Platform, Solution, COMMs, Network SW, etc., on all matters related to datacenter and GenAI-focused network compute, storage, and switch connectivity using optical and copper technologies.Â

You will:
Architects, designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates electronic parts, components, or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment and other hardware systems.Â
Creates & analyzes equipment and test plan requirements to perform verification; conducts experimental tests and evaluates results.Â
Works withArchitects, CTO and Product Managers to select components based on analysis of specifications, cost, continuity of supply, and reliability.Â
Leads the reviews original design manufacturer and sub-tier vendor capability to support product development and production.Â
Ensures the manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability of designs, and designs integrate with the rest of product functions including mechanical and software.Â

Essential Requirements
BSEE with 12+ years of experience in Fiber Optic Communication and HW Product DevelopmentÂ
Expert in high-speed pluggable transceiver form-factors and MSAs, SFP+/QSFP+/QSFP-DD/OSFP connectors, cages and their mechanical and thermal design.Â
Expert in electrical simulation tools, understanding of the different tools available for simulation.Â
Highly self-motivated with a strong multi-disciplinary background.Â
Good communication, presentation and documentation skills are a must.Â
Desirable Requirements
Expert of current industry players in cables and optics field.Â
Knowledge of Broadcom SDK is highly desiredÂ
Compensation
Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $192k - $249k.
