JOB LOCATION:

$7,500 Commitment Bonus Eligible | Paid out in 2 equal installments over 12 months in 6-month increments (6 months and 12 months).

**Only new hires who have not worked for Duke University Health System in the past 12 months (at the time of offer) are eligible to receive the Commitment bonus.**

 

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Medical Assistant, Certified (CMA/RMA) to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients at the Duke Triangle Heart Associates Clinic. This position is ideal for someone who likes to multi-task and has excellent organizational and communication skills. Professional development opportunities include the ability to participate in the CMA clinical ladder and to cross train to other areas throughout the clinic. 

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform intake with patients to include vital signs, visit information, medication review, learning assessment and other clinical information as indicated
  • Placement of heart monitors – event and holters – Prepare packets, download monitors, verify and correct order per protocol
  • Phlebotomy, perform EKG, Muse, gajema, assist staff in emergency situations, assist in clerical area
  • Participates in performance improvement projects
  • Attain prior authorizations for medications
  • Float in clinic to cover patient and provider needs as delegated by nurse manager, health center administrator, charge nurse, or nurse team lead.
  • Reminder calls, confirm appoints, no show list
  • Stock rooms, clean rooms, equipment, patient areas
  • Diagnostics – prep patients, start IV

 

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
  • High school or GED graduation required.
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
  • BLS required
  • Level I -- No experience required.

  • Level II -- 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting.

 

JOB HOURS:

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
