Collects and maintains physiological and anatomical data on trauma patients admitted to the hospital. Abstracts data from the medical record according to the requirements of the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation including demographic characteristics, prehospital information, initial hospital treatment, operating room usage, outcome and final disposition. Maintains Trauma data using the Collector System. Prepares monthly report for Trauma Center Committee and attends committee meetings on an alternating basis. Maintains confidentiality and security of patient data stored in the trauma registry files. Performs quality reviews on an alternating basis. Assists with updating of procedures on yearly basis and develops new procedures as necessary. Interprets study requests and accesses information from the computerized trauma data base for physicians or others. Downloads trauma information for electronic transfer of date to designated systems. Prepares reports as requested for Trauma Program Coordinator, Trauma Director or Supervisor of Registries as requested. Enters reservations into Chart Reserve for required records and scans records out to appropriate locations. Performs training for new personnel in Trauma Registry. Assists Information Technology personnel and Tri-Analytic personnel with problem solving for Collector System. Work is typically performed in an office environment.
