Wage range: $30.50 to $38/hour, plus commissions
The Sales Counselor disseminates information to the public regarding the retirement community; finding and following up on leads, interviewing prospective residents, providing information and selling vacant apartments.
Essential Functions
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Work Duties
- Searches out qualified leads from a variety of sources.
- Shows apartments and the retirement community to prospective residents, guests and others.
- Receives calls and inquiries from prospective residents, their families and their advisors; provides information, answers questions, overcomes objections and closes sales.
- Interviews and reviews records for approval of prospective residents; paperwork includes applications, contracts, financial reports, lead tracking and sales reports.
- Reviews levels of care needed by prospective residents with both the prospect, with the department and with other departments of the retirement community.
- Prepares and reviews occupancy and sales reports.
- Initiates and maintains contact with prospective residents, referral sources and others.
- Supports marketing events as required.
- Contributes to the planning, research and writing of the community’s marketing plans.
- May supervise or act as move-in coordinator, facilitating the move-in process for new residents and writing work orders for apartments as necessary.
- Attends in-service training and meetings as required.
- Provides effective and courteous service to all residents, guests and co-workers.
- Promotes and protects the rights of each resident.
- Performs various related essential duties as may be required by the Director of Marketing and Sales or by the corporate office.

- High school diploma and some vocational or college course work in business, marketing or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, social sciences, business or a related field may be substituted for two of the years of experience.
