Positions in this function assist the audiology providers as needed to assure the smooth operation of their clinics.  The Audiology Assistant also provides patient education, maintains hearing devices, and provides minor repair of hearing devices. Provides one-on-one appointments with patients in office and virtually to troubleshoot hearing devices. Gathers insurance information, educations patients about their benefits, and maintains the confidentiality of medical information.  Presents a cheerful, friendly, and personable demeanor in order to establish rapport with patients.

Location: 904 7th Avenue Seattle, WA. May require travel to Northgate location (9709 3rd Ave. NE) for coverage, as needed.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day (Typically 7:30am-4:30pm, but schedule may be flexible.)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The Audiology Assistant will increasingly gain responsibility for providing assistance to the healthcare clinician by providing direct patient care
  • Perform checks on hearing devices, including cleaning, changing tubing and performing basic repairs; Counsel patients on care and use of their devices
  • Provide in-person and virtual education to patients on the costs, use, and options for hearing devices;  Prepare patients for auditory brain response tests
  • Complete all invoicing and paperwork for new and/or repaired hearing aids.  Check insurance eligibility and obtain prior authorization for hearing aids.  Bill patients for repairs, cleaning, or device purchases and maintain hearing device warranties.  Complete purchase orders for hearing aids, order hearing aids, and assemble hearing aids for fittings.  Order audiological supplies and hearing devices
  • Answer telephone and give routine information in accordance with established procedures.  Retrieve voicemail messages and handle appropriately.  Call patients as necessary to follow up and/or schedule appointments
  • Disinfect exam rooms between patients
  • Support Revenue Cycle staff regarding prior authorization/EOB issues
  • Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
  • Current BLS certification or willing and able to obtain certification within 90 days of hire
  • 1+ years of medical office experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EPIC knowledge/experience
  • Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in providing patient care, of audiology examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures
  • Knowledge of audiology/medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures  

 

The salary range for this role is $16.88 to $33.22 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
