The Toro Company's Shakopee plant is the largest non-engine supplier to Toro with 125,000 square feet of production facility. This role is accountable for assuring that all needed materials to support the Master Schedule are planned, expedited, warehoused and distributed in a cost-effective manner. The position is responsible for performance metrics including schedule adherence, work in process levels (WIP), finished goods level, service fill rates, inventory turns and budget controls. Additionally, the position ensures that inventory is received, warehoused, and distributed in a cost-effective manner while maintaining inventory accuracy through a cycle counting program and maintains the JIT policies and programs necessary to support the inventory goals. In conjunction with the Marketing, Financial, and Manufacturing Groups, develops and maintains the Master Schedule. Functional areas managed by this position include material planning and overall material flow throughout the Shakopee site.
What Will You Do? Â
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for the following areas and responsibilities:
Master Scheduling:
- Insures the Master Scheduler has all models assigned to Shakopee, scheduled in an efficient, logical manner that facilitates accepted manufacturing practices.
- Works closely with Order Entry, Purchasing, Marketing and Shakopee leadership to make sure their requirements are met and maintained regarding product and material availability.
- Meets regularly with the above departments regarding changes to the Master Schedule
Planning:
- Using the SAP system, assures the material required to support the Master Schedule is available.
- Responsible for the Planning function to follow agreed upon parameters regarding purchased volumes, lead times, and delivery dates including service order requirements.
- Coordinates the activities required to remedy shortages until resolution.
- Directs the overall JIT inventory program for the Shakopee facility.
- Meets with critical vendors as it relates to the above requirements.
Production Control:
- Assures that all shop orders are accurate and issued in a timely manner.
- Insures shop order packets contain the required data.
Warehousing, Shipping and Receiving:
- Responsible for shipping of finished parts in a proper and effective manner in accordance with Toro and Federal transportation regulations.
- Accountable for the receiving and warehousing of material in an accurate and cost-effective manner. Supplies the manufacturing area with material as requested by the Master Schedule.
- Accounts for accuracy of inventory, lost inventory, and location accuracy through the use of cycle counting procedures.
- Insures at least one statistical inventory audit and one final inventory audit are conducted during each fiscal year.
Other:
- Insures that obsolete inventories are properly and timely disposed of using agreed upon budgets and parameters.
- Coordinates the ‘outside’ reworking of parts and material to meet changes in the requirements due to TEO’s, ECM’s, and TCN’s.
- If normal freight routes will not support the timely delivery of parts, insures coordination of ‘emergency’ traffic is completed.
- Coordinates the ISO program within the Materials Department.
- Promotes technology improvements (bar-coding, EDI, ASN’s) within the Materials group.
- Because of conflicting goals within the department, assures that personnel exhibits the tolerance and respect for one another.
- Works closely with the Purchasing function as it relates to vendor selection and certification and resolving conflicts between actual vendor performance vs. expectation.
What Do You Need? Â
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:Â Â

- Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Accounting, Business or similar field.
- Minimum of 5 years directly related experience in material planning, budgeting, production control, inventory control.
- Direct supervisory experience preferred.
- 5+ years of master scheduling/IBP preferred.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and team building skills.
- Strong communication, and leadership skills. Should be motivated with a positive attitude, with ability to work in a group/team setting.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment demonstrating growth in position and/or responsibility.
- Highly self-motivated and directed, able to work well under pressure, manage and prioritize multiple initiatives concurrently, attend to details, and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to be flexible, adaptable, and change priorities and direction as needed, allowing for optimum effectiveness.
- Ability to coach and mentor others

Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. A realistic expectation of the pay range for this position is between $120,000 - $145,000. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package. Â
