A Brief Overview
The CDL Wide Load delivers materials to job site, primarily delivering wall panels and/or trusses requiring oversized load permits. Inspects and maintains truck, reports shortages and claims to supervisor, and assists in loading and storing of materials. Typically, driving a truck with a capacity of more than three tons, and may be a more experienced driver who operates a roll-off or other specialty trailer. Also, includes more experienced tractor trailer drivers.

What you will do
  • Operate safely.
  • Participate in a positive work environment.
  • Maintain a current Class A or B Commercial Driver's License as required.
  • Prepare DOT required log of time on duty and driving.
  • Abide by regulations specified in permit.
  • Organize and secure load.
  • Check orders for accuracy.
  • Deliver and unload materials to customers' satisfaction.
  • Complete daily equipment pre-inspection.
  • Record all merchandise that is returned by truck, assists in unloading material returned for credit.
  • Follow guidelines established by the Department of Transportation.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Relay messages sent by customers while on job.
  • Assist supervisor, other employees and other work areas, as assigned.
  • Assist in maintaining good housekeeping in yard and warehouse.
  • Comply with all company policies and guidelines.
  • Operate roll-off or other specialty trailer safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness of truck.
  • Participate in and complete assigned trainings.


Education Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.


Experience Qualifications
  • less than 1 year CDL experience preferred.
  • Basic CDL experience with flat beds and/or tractor trailers required.
  • 1-3 years CDL experience for interstate commerce required.


Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to do basic math, read orders, write instructions and complete forms.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems.
  • Maintain current operator's license and meet company driver qualification requirements.
  • Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques
  • Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g. Smartphone, GPS and other necessary business applications).

  • Class B CDL License Required
