Under general supervision, position in this function serves as a liaison between patients, families/guests, and clinical staff. Greets, directs, and admits patient in friendly, caring and efficient manner. Scans patient’s paper medical records into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Ensures confidentiality of medical records and releases medical information following established Clinic policies and procedures. Is aware of the Surgery Centers as a whole and knows where patients, staff and physicians are on an ongoing basis to facilitate communications.
This position is part-time (30 hours/week), 3 days a week, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 10-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 5:45am - 5:50pm PST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at 4011 172nd Street NE, Arlington, WA 98223.
We offer 3-4 weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of training will be aligned with your schedule.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Greets patients in prompt, helpful, friendly manner
- Admits patients, verifies and updates necessary information using Epic/OpTime system. Â Completes surgical/procedure consents needed for ASC patients. Â May include paper documentation
- Attentive to the patients and guests in waiting room, rounding on an as-needed basis to notify of delays in schedules and surgical/procedural status as directed by the operating room
- Works directly with the post-anesthesia care areas to direct patient guests/family to the patient bedside as requested
- Coordinates with patient guests/family or ride services, if not present in the waiting room, to ensure patients have appropriate and timely transportation from the Surgery Center
- Prioritizes tasks and has ability to manage multiple duties at once
- Answers incoming telephone calls in a timely manner
- Screens telephone calls - gives routing, non-medical information to patients in preparation for their visit
- Takes brief, clear, complete messages
- Distributes and communicates messages/pertinent information to appropriate staff in a timely manner
- Distributes incoming mail and faxes as needed
- Acts as a resource to staff, patients, and families
- Keeps stock of ASC office supplies
- Prepares needed paperwork for next day surgery cases, ensuring all paperwork is complete and available prior to the patient arriving
- Creates forms and documents for Surgery Center staff as requested
- Once care is complete, collects and prepares all ASC thin chart paperwork to be scanned into the patient’s surgical encounter within the electronic medical record
- Scans patients surgical/procedural paperwork into the EMR under appropriate date of service

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience
- Must be 18 years of age OR older
- Experience working in a front desk / reception in an office - clerical setting using computers and working with customers
- Experience with Windows PC applications including Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work part-time (30 hours/week), 3 days a week, Monday - Friday, in any of our 10-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 5:45am - 5:50pm PST, including the flexibility to work occasional overtime, based on the business need

- CPR Certification
- Experience working in a front desk, reception, or check in position in a medical setting
- Knowledge of medical terminology

Washington Residents Only: The hourly range for this role is $16.54 to $32.55 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
