About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner specializing in Emergency Medicine for a locum tenens position at a Hospital in South Dakota. This 6-day assignment starts on 06/08/2025, covering 24-hour shifts from 8 AM to 8 AM on June 8-10 and June 13-15. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working as the sole provider in the Emergency Department, performing wound repairs including sutures and splints, intubations, rounding on patients, and stabilizing patients for transfer. This role offers an opportunity to work independently in a dynamic emergency setting, providing critical care to patients in need.

Schedule: 24-hour shifts, 8 AM to 8 AM (June 8-10 and June 13-15)

Job Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Serve as the sole provider in the Emergency Department 

• Perform wound repairs, including sutures and splints 

• Conduct intubations and manage airways 

• Round on patients in the Emergency Department 

• Stabilize patients for transfer when necessary 

• Assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of emergency conditions 

• Order and interpret diagnostic tests 

• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals as needed 

• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using CTSI evidence system 

• Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols 

• Manage multiple patients simultaneously in a fast-paced environment 

• Provide patient and family education on treatment plans and follow-up care

Additional Information: 

• Must be licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in South Dakota 

• Experience with CTSI evidence electronic health record system preferred 

• Strong clinical skills in emergency medicine procedures 

• Ability to work independently and make critical decisions 

• Comfortable working 24-hour shifts (no more than 3 consecutive shifts allowed) 

• Flexibility in schedule may be possible to accommodate availability 

• Possibility of assignment extension beyond the initial 6 days
