Division Overview:

Crown’s Closures, Aerosol & Promotional Packaging (CAPP) Division manufactures a variety of packaging solutions for the largest consumer packaging companies in North America. Our distinguished list of clients including SC Johnson, WD40, Barbasol, Abbott Laboratories and Unilever. We manufacture total packaging solutions including:

  • Closures: We manufacture a variety of decorative food and metal vacuum sealed closures, metal and composite closures, capping systems for glass and plastic container manufacturers.
  • Aerosol Packaging: We manufacture cans and ends for manufacturers of personal care, food, household, and industrial products. We offer our customers a broad range of products including multiple sizes, color schemes and shaped packaging.
  • Promotional and Specialty Packaging: We manufacture a wide array of decorative containers with numerous lid and closure variations.

Position Overview:

The Quality Assurance Inspector works closely with all aspects of the manufacturing process from the raw material to the finished product and support daily productions activities.

Location:

This fast-paced manufacturing facility making over 15-18 million cans a month located in Spartanburg, SC.


Duties & Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Quality Assurance Manager and the Quality Assurance Supervisor, the Quality Assurance Inspector’s responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following: 

  •  PCR (Process Control Report) documentation which lists all the routine checks and frequency of checks a Quality Inspector and Mechanic must conduct in a timely manner designated by the PCR.
  • Visual Checks – I.e. Dents, scratches, videojet codes, other visuals.
  • Various depth, height, width measurements on different parts of the can.
  • Use of computerized quality check tools to conduct various measurements – I.e. Seam scan machine.
  • As a Quality Assurance Inspector, you are a direct link to our customer.  It is your responsibility to protect our customer by always conducting PCR checks and placing questionable products in HFI status.
  • Communicates all pertinent information between management, co-workers, and between shifts on changes to equipment, production problems or any other related information.
  • Responsible in following JHA’s, SOP’s, Rules, 6S Housekeeping, maintaining gauging equipment and modifications of existing production standards to achieve optimal efficiencies
  • Enters information into a computer to document data.
  • Accurate and continuous quality checks and record keeping required.
  • Ensures all equipment, guards, and safety devices are in place at all times, and follows safe work procedures and safety rules.
  • Notifies supervisor of any incidences of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken and of any poor-quality material or supplies noted.
  • Keeps area safe, clean, and organized.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Must successfully complete the Combined Basic Skills and Inspection & Measurement Skills assessments.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures utilized in a Quality Control environment.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment in a quality inspector role.

Preferred Requirements:

  • High School Education/GED
  • Knowledge of use of micrometers, calipers and other inspection equipment preferred.
  • Prior work experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge and work history of focusing on safety and quality in every aspect of the job.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks at the same time. 

Competencies:

  • Effective written, verbal and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate with all levels of the plant and company management.
  • Ability to be observant and analytical, strong focus and attention to detail, thoroughness and dealing with complexity.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills using software and programs (Excel, Word, Access, AS400, etc.)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team.

Physical Requirements:

 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 
  • The associate may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus

 

Working Conditions:

  • Generally works in a manufacturing environment but will be required to perform some job duties inside a typical office setting.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures. 
  • The noise level is not excessively loud.
