Location:
All classroom times take place at Deaconess Hospital
Clinical Locations: Various units at Deaconess Hospital and Valley Hospital
Program Details:
The training period of the program is 7 weeks in length depending on holiday closures.
Cohort Start Date: We are currently recruiting for a start date of January 13, 2025
All offers are contingent upon acceptable results on a pre-employment drug screen and background check. MultiCare maintains a nicotine-free work environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as grooming, bed baths, toileting, incontinence care, perineal care, oral care, and other general hygiene needs.
- Promote infection prevention by properly performing urinary catheter care, hand hygiene, and proper application/removal of personal protective equipment.
- Insure accurate tracking of intake (food and drink) and output (urine and feces)
- Dealing with bodily fluids, and the possibility of working around those with contagious diseases
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Perform duties as assigned in an accurate and timely manner.
- Demonstrates initiative, problem solving ability, adaptability, and flexibility.
- Work and communicateĀ in a professional manner.
- This position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance.
- Working in a hospital setting does require the possibility of working weekends and holidays.
Qualifications:
- 18 years of age or older
- Previous patient care or customer service experience preferred but not required
- BLS Certification is to be obtained within 2 weeks of hire (during the training period) MultiCare will pay for this cost.
Pay & Benefits:
This is a paid, benefits eligible position. Benefits are effective on the first of the month following 30 days of employment at MultiCare.
MultiCare will pay the cost of the following items:
ā¢ Nurse Assistant Certified Licensure
ā¢ BLS Certification
ā¢ Nursing Assistant Certified written and skills exam (First attempt only)
Supplies:
For classroom instruction you will need:
- Access to Wi-Fi for classroom assignments/homework
- Scrubs (also needed for clinical instruction)
- Watch with a second hand.
- Proper Shoes (crocs are NOT permitted)
Program Schedule:
If extended an offer, the schedule during the training program will be:
ā¢ Monday-Friday, which includes clinical training and classroom training.
ā¢ The position is a .8 FTE (32 hours/week) schedules will be 8:00am-4:30pm
ā¢ Candidates should be prepared to dedicate 40 hours a week to clinical time, classroom time, and homework. This includes 32 hours of work/class time and 8 hours of homework/study time each week.

After Training:
Once training is completed, you will continue working on your training unit in your NAC Trainee Position. The schedule will change but you are required to keep your .8FTE
FTE: .8 Shift: Day Schedule: M-F 8:00am-4:30pm for the first seven weeks of training. After training Days/Nights available. 3 days a week, 12 hours each day.
Position Summary
The Nursing Assistant Trainee (NAC Trainee) works under the direction of a Registered Nurse to provide quality care that is focused on the comfort and well-being of the patient and family.Employees in this job will only perform work within the scope of the Trainee position as outlined in the education program.
Responsibilities
- Assists with room set up for patient admissions
- Helps prepare patients for discharge
- Performs bed changes, and safety sweeps of patient rooms; empties urinals, commodes, trash and linen receptacles in patient rooms
- Picks up and delivers items to lab, supply chain, etc.
- Assists with transports, delivery of patient belongings
- Assists with answering phone calls
- Stocks PPE stations and organizes storage and stock room
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous healthcare experience preferred
- BLS Certification obtained within 2 weeks of placement in job

Pay and Benefit Expectations
We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $18.78 - $18.78 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education.
