Investment Management Consultant

The OpportunityĀ 

Investment Management (IM) is looking for a highly motivated and engaged Investment Consultant. They must be task-driven and detailed orientated while having clear and concise written and verbal communication skills with the ability to orchestrate multiple simultaneous initiatives which will require excellent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills. Day-to-day tasks will be keeping accurate records of all incoming and current statements of work (SOW), procurement services agreements (PSA) for the Investment Management division with a heavy focus on end of year renewals. Other duties include new SOWs/PSAs, extensions, purchase orders, employee and contractor onboarding and offboarding, expenses, contract firm oversight while managing the associated budget. The incumbent is someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, is comfortable taking on complex tasks and enjoys working in partnership with others both on our team and across the enterprise. This position is based in Springfield or Boston with a hybrid schedule. Ā 

The TeamĀ 

The Strategy and Planning team is part of the Investment Management (IM) Strategy and Governance Organization. The Strategy and Governance team drives IMā€™s strategy forward, optimizing governance and decision-making processes, analyzes, and establishes common metrics, processes, and tools and supports key internal and external stakeholders in progressing the IM target operating model. The team is also responsible for coordinating the departmentā€™s strategic initiatives, Investment Compliance, Investment Due-Diligence and Investment Data Strategy and Governance.

The ImpactĀ Ā 

  • Regularly communicate with internal stakeholders including the line of business, legal, compliance and data security groups to assess risks specific to eachVendor contact/SOWĀ 
  • Support the negotiation process with Procurement and suppliers to produce contracts that adhere to MassMutual contracting standards and meet business objectives. You will be responsible for planning and executing negotiation strategy in a timely manner while adjusting to changing circumstancesĀ 
  • Be an integral part of drafting and/or redlining contracts to ensure that MassMutual is adequately protected from risks by relying upon your skills to assess the impact of deviations from standards and engage internal stakeholders when requiredĀ 
  • Understanding the business drivers behind contracts/SOWS and developing an execution planĀ 
  • Working closely with the Procurement team, and stakeholders as appropriateĀ 
  • Serve as divisionā€™s records retention specialist and act as the divisionā€™s Unit Information Coordinator, managing information storage across the division with the support of identified sub coordinatorsĀ 
  • Serve as backup personnel for invoice processing and purchase order setup in MassMutualā€™s vendor management system, AribaĀ 
  • SharePoint development and maintenance for the Investment Management PortalĀ 
  • Support preparation of presentation materials to communicate the teamā€™s overall progress to achieve its goals and escalate any risks, issues and/or decisions where appropriateĀ 
  • Support the onboarding and off-boarding activities of employees and contingent resourcesĀ Ā 
  • Assists with employee engagement, team building, event planning and other organizational functions as neededĀ

Minimum QualificationsĀ 

  • Bachelorā€™s DegreeĀ OR in lieu of a bachelorā€™s degree, we require 10+ years in equivalent professional experience
  • 5+ years of experience in the following areas:Ā 
    • Contract evaluation, drafting and negotiation/redliningĀ 
    • Managing supplier engagements and/or engaging with procurement-related functionsĀ 
    • Project coordination and/or advanced administrationĀ Ā 

The Ideal QualificationsĀ 

  • 4+ years of experience with IT and technology related contracts including Software as a Service (SaaS), hardware, software licensing, IT professional services, etcĀ 
  • Experience working with multiple procurement functions such as supplier and category managementĀ 
  • Can-do, positive attitude and comfortable working with senior, executive and external stakeholders with acute attention to detailĀ 
  • Team Player/Relationship Building: Collaborative with strong interpersonal skills; able to relate to and build strong relationships with diverse internal and external audiences; leverages the ability to deliver effectivelyĀ 
  • Innovation: Continually looks within and beyond their job, anticipating business needs and opportunities.Ā 
  • Expert knowledge and comfort working with advanced versions of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)Ā 
  • Working knowledge of SmartsheetĀ Ā 
  • Previous experience working in a financial services/insurance organizationĀ 
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Ariba, Concur, SharePoint and other technology required to support the organizationĀ 
  • Strong Communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively using verbal and written methods to all levels of an organizationĀ 
  • High level of attention to detail and time management, with a strong understanding of the importance of being responsive and proactive in a deadline-driven environmentĀ 
  • Collaborative approach, demonstrates openness, and provides assistance as urgent situations or ad-hoc needs ariseĀ
