Position Title: Research & Development Technician

Wage: $20-$24/hour Negotiable DOE

Shift: 10-hour shift

Hours: 6am-4pm Monday-Friday

QPS Employment Group is hiring a Research & Development Technician for a company in Springfield, MO. This is a contract to hire role.

Research & Development Technician Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- New equipment designs and process improvements
- Read and interpret technical prints, schematics, and diagrams
- Conduct hands-on testing and validation of equipment and processes
- Solve complex mechanical and automation challenges in food processing
- Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards in all R&D activities
- Know your way around sheet metal and fabrication
- Follow established protocols with attention to detail to maintain project consistency
- Prepare technical reports and presentations using Microsoft Office suite
- Travel to customer sites and other locations as needed for field testing, installations, and data collection

Research & Development Technician Requirements:
- Strong background in automation, mechanical systems, and food science
- Experience in research and development within the food industry
- Ability to read technical prints and schematics
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with food safety and quality standards (HACCP, FSMA, etc.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to travel as required
- 2+ years of experience in a similar R&D role
- Familiarity with food processing equipment design and testing
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work on concrete floor in manufacturing setting for 8-10 hour shifts
- Ability to work in, around, and beneath equipment
- Work a standard schedule of Monday-Friday with the potential for some OT
- Able to lift, bend, and carry up to 75lbs on a routine basis
- Overtime may be required occasionally, and on rare occasions, all associates may be required to work on Saturday or Sunday to meet customer requirements
- Mechanically inclined
- Must be familiar with robotics and automation
