Lead Certified Sterile Processing Technician:  Full-Time

No Weekends, No Call, No Holidays

Bon Secours Surgery Center at Harbour View is seeking a Full-Time Lead Certified Sterile Processing Technician.  We are a busy multispecialty surgery center serving Northern Suffolk and an affiliate of United Surgical Partners International (USPI).  USPI’s mission is to care for each patient and their family as if they were our own.  Each patient, each family, each and every time.

The Certified Sterile Processing Technologist cares for and maintains all surgical instrumentation and sets up supplies and instruments for surgery cases.  He/she is responsible for all departmental functions in support of USPI’s mission, vision, and facility goals. This position establishes effective working relationships with all constituencies including patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and vendors.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  •         Experience with all types of sterilizers
  •        Knows operating room instrumentation
  •         Organized in setting up operating room instrument tray
  •         Understands operation of steam/gravity sterilizer
  •         Ability to prepare reports and keep records
  •          Familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items is required
  •         Independent decision making skills
  •         Excellent customer service skills
  •         Advocate of patient safety and quality of care
  •      Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships

Required Skills:

 

    • Education:  High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • Certifications:  Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician
    • Experience:  2 years’ Instrument Room Technician preferred
    • Ability to demonstrate good organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Good command of the English language, both verbal and written
    • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
