Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. PRIMARY FUNCTION: Perform a wide variety of support activities for Manufacturing Engineering and Operations. Such activities will involve the ability to devise, develop, and execute utilization of various mechanical and optical measuring equipment for analyzing intricate parts, subassemblies, assemblies, fabrications, and tooling (laser tracker, laser projection, photogrammetry, and other measuring technologies). The technical tasks including analyses of drawings/ CAD models and making calculations when using equipment with allowance for adjustment of tooling as a touch activity on products/ projects, while at times getting assistance from the Manufacturing Engineers and Mission Assurance. WORKING PROCEDURE AND/OR RESPONSIBILITY ASSIGNED: THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES BUT THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT, NOR THE QUESTION BEING RAISED ON THE PROPER RATE OF PAY FOR THE ASSIGNMENT. ln addition to the duties of a Technical Assistant to Manufacturing, perform the following: (requires technical knowledge and understanding of optical measurement equipment, data analysis software, and touch activities involving mechanical adjustment of equipment/ tooling as necessary). 1. Support Manufacturing Engineers and Operations on production parts and/or projects 2. Be proficient in the utilization of optical measurement equipment (laser tracker and other similar technology) 3. Maintain complete familiarity in setting up optical measurement equipment (new or refurbished equipment) to obtain maximum effectiveness of equipment and techniques, familiar with programing of measurement systems, and able to utilize the various functions of the equipment 4. Understand and be able to utilize drawings / 3D models as necessary to obtain information to support projects, including experience with measuring parts using datums and GD&T 5. Maintain equipment, perform checks and troubleshooting of laser tracker or like equipment. Coordinate in-plant equipment service/ repairs and calibration with service contracted vendors when required (new equipment or significant equipment repairs as deemed necessary) 6. Responsible for care, cleanliness, and proper storage of equipment during and after use (protective coverings, dust removal, tracking and storage of parts and support equipment, etc.) 7. Proficient at Microsoft Office programs to write reports, share data, and provide information as necessary 8. Proficient at exporting data to / from the equipment to Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Word 9. Use Excel as required to manipulate the data to develop reports, charts, and other technical information that can be shared with others as required 10. Forklift and/or Stacker operations 11. Crane operations 12. Perform work of equal or lower code level as required Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent GED. A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with measurement techniques (Laser Tracking CMM, CNC Set Up, and other similar technology). A minimum of 1 year experience using Microsoft Office suite (Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint). A minimum of 5 years’ experience supporting Manufacturing Engineers and Operations on production parts and/or projects. A minimum of 5 years experience utilizing engineering drawings/3D models, including experience with measuring parts and locating features using Datums and Geometric Dimensional and Tolerances (GD&T). Must be able to obtain Forklift and Crane Certification within 6 months of starting role. US citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications: Hexagon Training in Levels 1 & 2 to use Laser Tracker and Laser Scanners complimented by Spatial Analyzer. 2 years’ experience calculating “Bonus Tolerance”. Experience capturing data and applying Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques or other common Statistical Methodologies.
