JOB SUMMARY
Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Delegates patient care priorities commensurate with the education and experience of other staff.

  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Assesses the nursing needs and initiating appropriate intervention for patients in the Radiology Department.
  • Coordinates and conducts educational programs for students and department staff.
  • Assesses each patient prior to, during, and does necessary post-procedure monitoring of patients in accordance with the protocols established for these procedures under the supervision and direction of the radiologist performing these procedures. Assesses and cares for patients undergoing cardiac CTA.

Qualifications and requirements

Licenses: Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina or compact state.

Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days and maintained thereafter
AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year of hire and maintained thereafter

Experience: Basic knowledge of radiographic procedures and radiation safety is desired.
