Position Description

The Commercial Strategy Manager role involves supporting the Commercial Sales department in leading projects aligned with the organization's strategic plan. Responsibilities include conducting commercially driven analyses such as market research, competitive analysis, process improvements, and providing support for network capability projects. The manager will also be involved in various profitability projects as required by commercial, financial, and operational leadership. Collaboration with multiple stakeholders across the organization is essential, with a focus on presenting business cases to diverse audiences, including the Senior Management Team and Operating Board. The role aims to translate market, operational, and financial data into actionable strategies to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks, ultimately contributing to informed decision-making within the company. Ad hoc reporting and support for the sales and strategy organization are also part of the responsibilities, emphasizing the importance of transforming data and analytics into actionable items. 

Essential Functions:

  • Partner with Commercial team for strategic recommendations, financial analysis, and pro-forma modeling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to assess capability and capacity investments based on market trends and constraints.
  • Work with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Supply Chain Finance to understand plant capabilities and manufacturing cost drivers.
  • Support new product efforts through in-depth financial analysis and modeling.
  • Make formal and informal presentations on strategies, project profitability, and key insights.
  • Compile data for tracking and measuring initiative performance, providing insights for improvement.
  • Utilize internal and syndicated data for monthly analysis, offering Sales Leadership market and competitive intelligence.
  • Combine performance data with market trends and forecasts to provide strategic insights.
  • Continuously improve processes, initiating changes that add value to the department and company.
  • Participate in systems implementation, data validation, and process re-engineering activities.
  • Document and cross-train on processes for business continuity.
  • Ensure ongoing training and development for enhanced business knowledge and analytical skills.
  • Handle ad hoc reporting and support requests for the sales organization as needed.
  • Build positive and trustful working relationships with numerous business partners across the organization.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to identify and evaluate business needs, challenges, and opportunities within the current business environment.
  • Assist in interviewing, mentoring, and utilize individuals in the Commercial Strategy internship program.
  • Conduct and participate onboarding Refresco employees by utilizing the Store Visit program.
  • Co-lead the Next Level Store Visit programs for tenured Refresco employees.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Utilize multiple data sources to navigate through large datasets and summarize findings for management-level communication.
  • Preferably have product (beverage) or brand management experience within a CPG or manufacturing corporation.
  • Build dynamic models and automate repetitive tasks.
  • Provide accurate data in a timely manner, both routine and ad hoc.
  • Offer fact-based recommendations to various levels of management.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Act as a strong team player, collaborating across multiple functions and maintaining constructive working relationships.
  • Demonstrate excellent time management skills, balancing multiple tasks and changing priorities.
  • Exhibit attention to detail, planning, and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Negotiate conflict and maintain constructive working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization. Utilize strong analytical and financial modeling skills, employing tools such as Excel, SAP, and PowerPoint for navigating large datasets and summarizing findings in communication.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance related field.
  • MBA preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in project management, financial analysis, sales analysis, revenue analytics, or related field.
  • Demonstrated data mining capabilities, and can develop analytical models, tools, and reports.
  • Experience interacting directly with sales and business teams and working cross-functionally between departments and at all levels.
  • Experience with third party competitive data and forecasting.

Working Conditions:

  • Onsite – with the flexibility to work from home one day per week.
  • Physical Demands– Continuously sitting for prolonged periods, as the job is administrative in nature.
  • Visual/Sensory – This position requires attention to detail, requiring attention with one or two senses at a time.
  • Work Environment – Work and environment fasted paced, requiring ability to remain focused under pressure.
