Job Accountabilities

Crown, a global Fortune 500 packaging manufacturer, has an immediate opening for a Commercial Analyst in the North American Closures, Aerosol & Promotional Packaging (CAPP) Division.    As a key member of the CAPP Team, this individual will have a wide range of responsibilities including the following:

  • Become fully immersed in the mechanics of Contracts & Pricing for example:  metal passthroughs, metal hedging, freight recovery and fuel surcharges, exchange rate impacts on pricing, rebate calculations, etc.
  • Act as the gatekeeper for all new/amended agreements, assisting the VP of Sales & Marketing and Sales Directors with contract negotiations, bid sheets, contract writing, etc. as a bridge between the Sales team and the Legal Department
  • Assist the Director, Finance with the preparation of monthly reconciliations to comply with contractual requirements including but not limited to pass-through aluminum mechanisms, aluminum hedging, rebates and freight.
  • Assist the Director, Finance with the preparation of monthly/quarterly price change forms and maintenance of pricing database.
  • Ad hoc projects on profitability of customer accounts, freight analysis, tariff implications and upcharge calculations. 
  • Support Account Directors/Managers with resolution of chargebacks, collection of receivables, forecast accuracy, etc.
  • Baseline management of the customer market database
  • Utilization of IRR data to collect and review market trends
  • Assemble data around the swings in the market, product launches and retail scan activity. 

Job Requirements

We are seeking a high-potential individual for this opportunity with the desire and ability to advance within the organization.  Requirements include the following:

  • BA/BS degree in business, accounting or a related discipline. MBA is a plus
  • Prior experience with packaging pricing, aluminum pricing, commodities hedging, etc. a plus
  • Prior experience with contract writing / negotiations a plus
  • Proven communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to effectively compose, write, edit and proofread business correspondence, contracts, proposals and management reports
  • Complete understanding of the Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access). Advanced skills in Excel (Pivot tables, Lookup functions, Macros, etc.) preferred.
  • Ability to effectively use analytical or theoretical approaches to problem solving
  • Well organized and detail oriented with outstanding time management skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills as well as proven presentation skills
  • Self-motivated and eager to take the initiative; with the ability to work effectively in a team setting and as an individual
