The Spray Technician is responsible for the application of fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and other turf care products to high school sports fields. This role ensures the health and aesthetics of the fields, contributing to safe and visually appealing playing surfaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and accurately apply fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and other turf care products to sports fields.
- Operate and maintain spray equipment, including boom sprayers, hand-held sprayers, and other application tools.
- Calibrate spray equipment to ensure proper application rates.
- Follow application schedules and guidelines to achieve optimal results.
2. Field Maintenance
- Conduct regular inspections of sports fields to identify pest, weed, and disease issues.
- Implement integrated pest management strategies to minimize chemical use while maintaining field health.
3. Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures when handling and applying chemicals.
- Maintain accurate records of all chemical applications, including product used, application rates, and areas treated.
- Stay informed about and comply with local, state, and federal regulations regarding chemical use and turf management.
4. Communication and Coordination
- Coordinate with the General Manager to develop and adjust application schedules based on field conditions and events.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in turf management, landscaping, or a related field, with a focus on chemical application.
- Experience with high school sports fields or similar athletic facilities is preferred.
- Licensing and Certification: - Valid Florida pesticide applicator's license or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment.
- Certification in turf management or a related field is a plus.
- Valid Driver's License required
