About the Hospital

Designated as a Level 1 Trauma Center; Comprehensive Stroke Center, Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital is a 486-bed premier medical campus. We provide high-quality, specialized care in programs such as trauma and emergency medicine, cardiology, orthopedics, neurology, and women’s services.

About the ER

Carondelet St. Joseph’s Emergency Center is a 38-bed Unit. While working in the ER, staff experience flexible scheduling, opportunities for interdepartmental and professional growth, encouragement for staff engagement, educational offerings, and a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

Responsible for monitoring and maintaining throughput within the department. Understand ER metrics with a focus on the discharge length of stay. Create and implement innovative strategies to improve overall metrics. Instrumental in recruiting and retaining staff, managing and maintaining core competencies, and developing staff toward their full potential. Facilitate conflict resolution, promote positive work environment and effectively balance Just Culture. Exemplify the Tenet Code of Conduct and optimize the patient experience.

  • Support staff in any direct patient care role, including Trauma and Clinical Lead positions
  • Implement appropriate interventions to meet productivity targets and control expenses
  • Oversee all aspects of training, and maintaining a record of competencies for individual files
  • Participate in all recruitment efforts, including hiring fairs and managing the extern program
  • New hire orientation and on-boarding, welcome and provide orientation schedule
  • Perform 30-, 60-, and 90-day evaluations for new hires and annual employee evaluations for all staff
  • Active participation in hospital-wide committees with a focus on Sepsis, Fall Risk, and Patient Experience
  • Manage staff performance and behavior that may include constructive feedback, corrective action, performance improvement plans, and up to termination
  • Promoter a culture that supports the Market approach throughout the Carondelet Health Network
  • Maintain a department that exceeds regulatory standards of quality and patient safety 

Qualifications:

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Valid and current Arizona RN License or compact state license with the ability to become licensed in Arizona within 30 days
  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • PALS (American Heart Association)
  • TNCC (Preferred or Obtain within 6 months of starting)

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare, Business, Public Administration, Management or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years as a Licensed RN with at least 2 years in an emergency/critical care
  • Minimum of 1-year in a leadership as an RN
