Job Summary:

This jobs primary focus is to provide high quality clinical supervision on every aspect of the role for pre-masters and pre-doctorate practicum students, and post-masters associate-level providers in Psychiatry departments. Depending on area need, may provide clinical supervision of licensed providers. Will be involved in hiring, training, coaching, performance evaluation and disciplinary process. Will provide supervision in models such as competence-based supervision, reflective supervision or other models per program need. Supervisor may work regionally across various medical centers or for a local medical center and associated clinic(s). Supervision will be 1-1, triadic and group supervision as needed for purposes of meeting school program requirements, California licensing Boards requirements and KP clinic needs. Will communicate and partner with academic program/school field liaisons; will complete school evaluations and related paperwork required by school. Will review and provide feedback on clinical documentation. Will oversee professional standards and provide feedback. Will provide training and supervision in evidence-based practices (EBPs) including measurement-based care, feedback informed care and other EBPs per regional guidance. Responsible for clinical program design and implementation with supervisees. Up to 20% of working time, may provide direct psychotherapeutic services to patients and/or patient groups.


Essential Responsibilities:


  • Provides high quality clinical supervision per California Board requirements (Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology) covering all aspects of the student/intern/Associate/licensed providers (any supervisee) role including clinical documentation, treatment planning, crisis response protocols, KP clinical workflows.

  • For interns/students, in concert with treatment team and school liaisons, takes part in recruiting and hiring, trains/orients, coaches and follows disciplinary procedures.

  • For Associates and licensed therapists, in concert with KP treatment team, takes part in recruiting and hiring, trains/orients, coaches, and follows disciplinary procedures including corrective action.

  • Conducts timely and thorough performance evaluation of supervisees.

  • Provides training and supervision in key treatment modalities and EBPs covering individual (adult, adolescent, child), family, couples and group therapy.

  • In concert with other personnel and physicians, responds to and resolves service, access, quality, and provider concerns/issues related to supervisees.  

  • Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures to meet Behavioral Health Care and organizational operational, business and strategic goals/objectives as related to supervisees.

  • Partners with school program field liaison to complete all necessary paperwork and other requirements related to field placements.

  • Uses outcome measures to train, coach and mentor supervisees in the provision of high-quality clinical outcomes for patients.

  • Clinical program design and implementation as related to supervisees and overall regional and local clinic needs across the Behavioral Health continuum of care.  

  • Collaborates with Regional Behavioral Health training program team for student/intern/associate placements.

  • Works with Academic Liaisons at the medical center and regional level for timely onboarding of students and interns.

  • May develop and implement policies, procedures and systems to ensure customer/ member/patient satisfaction and member/patient access.

  • In concert with the Chief and department manager maximizes physical, fiscal and human resources and reduces associated costs related to supervisees.

  • Analyzes departmental volume/workload indicators and evaluates/improves utilization and productivity of supervisees.

  • Up to 20% of working time, may provide direct psychotherapeutic services to patients and/or patient groups.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:
Experience


  • Minimum two (2) years post-license therapy experience required within the past five (5) years.

Education

  • Masters degree in a field/discipline related to mental health such as psychology, social work, counseling, or behavioral science.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (California) OR Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California) OR Psychologist License (California) OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker (California)
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire
Additional Requirements:

  • Must meet qualifications to provide clinical supervision per California Board of Behavioral Sciences or California Board of Psychology and keep qualifications current per any updates needed or changes to Board supervision requirements.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated acumen using a feedback informed model of care with empathic patient engagement.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of state regulations about supervision agreements, ethics, equity, including and diversity, patient treatment, patient rights and confidentiality.
  • Completion of any Board required supervision trainings (Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of individual and/or group psychotherapeutic treatment modalities and techniques.
  • Interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years post-license therapy experience required within the past seven (7) years.
