The School Custodian performs general cleaning duties in designated areas at a K-12 school. Â We are seeking a motivated, friendly team member who will perform general cleaning duties in designated areas in a school. Our Apprentice School Custodians have Weekends off and Great Union Benefits! You will receive $16.50 per hour for this Monday - Friday position - paid bi-monthly; as well as medical, dental and vision insurance, other Union Benefits include: vacation and 11 paid holidays after you reach 522 hours worked. This position is based on Union Benefits for Medical, Dental and Vision as well as paid time off, as well as a pension plan.

Responsibilities:
Â
• Clean and maintain assigned area, which may include classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, office, and stairwaysÂ
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areasÂ
• Regularly check trash receptacles, emptying as needed, in all designated areasÂ
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
• Notify lead cleaner or manager concerning the need for minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systemsÂ
• Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with clients, co-workers, shift coordinators, supervisors, managers, etc.
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptaclesÂ
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceiling, and walls
• Polish hard surfaces, e.g. woodwork, stainless steel surfaces
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areasÂ
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas, either manually or by using hand trucksÂ
• Clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegeesÂ
• Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow or perform other incidental seasonal tasksÂ
• Maintain the cleanliness of restrooms (clean and polish as needed)
• Comply with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by the Company, Clients, and regulatory authoritiesÂ
