Job Description:
The RN - Risk Manager performs clinical care review, takes the lead with clinical improvement projects and serves as the clinical resource for the JMH Risk Management Team.Education :
Bachelor's Degree - Required
Experience:
3 years Experience in Healthcare - Acute Care - Required
Working knowledge of and Experience with investigating and identifying causes of patient safety or Quality of care issues - Required
Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and extracting data related to care and services - Required
Experience with Risk Management - Healthcare or Quality Management - Preferred
Experience with Medical malpractice claims management - Preferred
Additional Experience Requirements:
Experience interpreting medical records to identify potential deviations in care and/or potential liability
Experience leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary group meetings and activities
Experience making presentations in front of other health care professionals and leaders
Certifications/Licensures:
RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Nursing - Required
CPHRM Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management - American Hospital Association - Preferred at time of hire or Required within 3 years of hire
Specialty Certifications - ANCC American Nurses Credentialing Center Required within 2 years of hire and Must be included in the list of allowed certifications by ANCC for Magnet demographics

Skills:
Working knowledge of Root Cause Analysis process, performance improvement principles and patient safety and risk management topics.
Knowledge of regulatory/legal regulations related to hospital reporting requirements of safety events and incidents.
Knowledge of Medical terminology.
Advanced computer skills (spreadsheets, graphs, tables and reports).
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to develop effective, team-oriented working relationships with physicians, nurses and other health professionals.
Must be able to deal with time-sensitive responsibilities and occasional schedule variability due to unpredictable nature of scope of work.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials in a professional manner.
Ability to listen, problem-solve and develop strong interpersonal relationships with others.
Ability to apply clinical experience and expertise as well as critical thinking skills to determine if best practice care was provided.
