Job Description:
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides medical evaluation and treatment of John Muir Health patients in collaboration with and under the direction of the Supervising Physician. The NP performs duties according to standardized procedures which have been developed corroboratively by John Muir Health administration, medical staff, nursing, Supervising Physician, and Nurse Practitioners and approved by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Board. The NP is a registered nurse who possesses evidence- based medical knowledge and skills in physical diagnosis, assessment, and management of health-illness needs in their area of clinical specialty or practice. The NP is academically and clinically trained to perform many of the routine/specific examinations and interventions for treatment and care of the patient population served. ÂIn this role the NP (non-surgical), will contribute to physician and unit effectiveness; will support daily rounding in the inpatient orthopedic units on post-operative patients; collaborating with clinical attendings, nursing staff, pharmacy staff, and case managers to support and coordinate hospital discharge planning, by working with patient and ancillary department staff in providing appropriate multi-disciplinary care.
Education:
Graduate of an Accredited School of Nurse Practitioner Program (MSN or DNP) – Required
Experience:
3 years Nurse Practitioner in an Acute Care Setting Preferred - AND
3 years Healthcare - Orthopedics Preferred
Certifications/Licensures:
RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Nursing - Required and
NP Registered Nurse Practitioner - CA Board of Registered Nursing - Required and
NP-F Registered Nurse Practitioner Furnishing - CA Board of Registered Nursing – Required and
FNP Family Nurse Practitioner - ANCC American Nurses Credentialing Center - Required or
Related NP clinical license or certification through ANCC or
NP Nurse Practitioner - AANP American Academy of Nurse Practitioners – Required
DEA Drug Enforcement Agency - US Dept of Justice - Drug Enforcement Administration - Required
BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association - Required
