Job Description:

The Ambulatory Telephone Triage Nurse plays a crucial role in providing timely and efficient healthcare support to patients by telephone. The Telephone triage nurse provides timely and accurate assessment of a patient’s symptoms and utilizes critical thinking, nursing judgement, and approved decision support tools to provide appropriate nursing advice and determine the level of care required.

Education:

  • Graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program – Required​

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing - Preferred
     

Experience:

  • 1 Year Acute Care Hospital - Preferred

  • 1 Year Ambulatory, triage, or medical office experience - Preferred

  • 1 Year Telephone Triage – Preferred
     

Certifications/Licensures:

  • RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Nursing - Required

  • BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association – Required

Skills

  • Evenings and weekends may be required

  • Advanced clinical assessment and decision-making ability

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Able to work well independently

  • Functions well in a high-stress environment

  • Sound critical thinking

  • Effective time management and organization skills

  • Empathetic with the ability to develop trust with patients

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish- preferred

Start times are not set and new hires must be flexible to start at 8am, 8:30am, and 9:00am during the orientation/training period.

Work Shift:

08.0 - 08:00 - 16:30 No Waive (United States of America)

Pay Range:

$66.27 - $89.47Hourly

Offer amounts are based on demonstrated/relevant experience and/or licensure.

Note: Positions at JMH which are exempt (not eligible for overtime) under the level of Manager are listed as hourly for compensation purposes on this posting. The work shift will contain the word ‘exempt’ on it.
