The Obstetric Sonographer at Sibley Memorial Hospital operates all ultrasound equipment located in Departments of Maternal Fetal Medicine and Labor and Delivery for the purpose of performing diagnostic exams according to physician orders. Responsibilities include performing all ultrasound procedures according to deparment procedures and established protocols. Performing fetal exams including but not limied to 1st trimester ultrasound exam, nuchal translucency measurement, 2nd trimester detailed anatomic survey, 3rd trimester ultrasound exam, full and limited fetal echocardiography, maternal and fetal Doppler (MCA, umbilical artery, ductus venosus, and uterine artery) and biophysical profile. Additionally, the OB Sonographer assists perinatologists in performing invasive procedures, performs portable examinations requiring movement of ultrasound equipment to various locations, and monitors any abnormal changes in patients' color, respiration, heart rate, and responsiveness.

Shift:

Full Time, Monday-Friday, Day Shift, No Weekends

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of an approved curriculum in diagnostic ultrasound. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Registration (or Registry-eligible) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in OB/GYN.
  • Current CPR Certification required

Duties and Responsibilities of the OB Sonographer Including But Not Limited to:

  • Performs all ultrasound procedures according to deparment procedures and established protocols. Performs fetal exams including but not limied to 1st trimester ultrasound exam, nuchal translucency measurement, 2nd trimester detailed anatomic survey, 3rd trimester ultrasound exam, full and limited fetal echocardiography, maternal and fetal Doppler (MCA, umbilical artery, ductus venosus, and uterine artery) and biophysical profile.
  • Assists perinatologists in performing invasive procedures
  • Performs portable examinations requiring movement of ultrasound equipment to various locations
  • Monitors and observes any abnormal changes in patients' color, respiration, heart rate, and responsiveness. Responds appropriately.

Salary Range: Minimum 36.47 per hour - Maximum 60.17 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
