The cancer specialists at Sibley Memorial Hospital provide surgical, radiation and medical oncology and inpatient oncology services in Washington, D.C. metro area. As part of the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center (hopkinsmedicine.org) patients are able to receive the world renown treatments, including clinical trials and immunotherapy, of Johns Hopkins Medicine without leaving the region. Sibley Memorial Hospital - Johns Hopkins Medicine, is a non-profit, full service 318 bed acute care community hospital located in the beautiful Palisades neighborhood of Washington, DC.

What you will do!

Join our dynamic oncology team as an Ambulatory Oncology Chart Verification Nurse! In this role, you’ll leverage your clinical expertise to review and verify patient treatment plans, ensuring accuracy and safety in our infusion center. With a focus on exceptional patient outcomes and seamless care coordination, you’ll work closely with providers, pharmacists, and the nursing team to preemptively address potential issues and enhance the patient experience. As a key player in our clinic, you’ll model excellence and compassion in every interaction. If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact in oncology care, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

Here you’ll conduct focused assessments and provide vital education to ACE-eligible patients via phone the day before their scheduled appointments, helping to ensure they’re well-prepared and informed. Through optimizing ACE clearance, you’ll play a key part in streamlining our pharmacy’s operations and maximizing infusion chair availability, ultimately enhancing the patient experience and supporting team satisfaction. By carefully reviewing lab results and collaborating with providers, pharmacists, and nurses, you’ll help identify and address any gaps in care early on, prioritizing patient safety. Your patient and family education will be thoughtfully tailored, factoring in individual needs, age, culture, and learning styles. With your hands-on approach to managing risks and proactive interventions when medical orders require clarification, you’ll set a high standard of excellence and compassion that impacts every aspect of oncology care.

Work Hours: 40 hours per week, 5 days a week 8 hours shift.


Who Should Apply:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with RN licensure in the District of Columbia.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or another bachelor’s degree with a second degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience.
  • 1-3 years of oncology-specific experience.
  • Knowledge of central line access and maintenance.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred, with certification required within 9 months of hire unless extended by management.
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification through ONS preferred or to be obtained within 1 month of hire, unless extended by management.

Salary Range: Minimum $39.61 per hour - Maximum $61.41 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
