The role of Senior Finance Director, focused on Program Control and Business Finance Leadership, is essential to ensure the financial integrity, efficiency, and strategic alignment of our projects. This position will play a critical role in managing program finances, ensuring compliance, and driving business performance. What team?

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Program Control:
    • Develop and implement robust program control processes to ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and forecasting of program financials
    • Monitor program budgets, costs, and schedules to ensure adherence to contractual obligations, bid submission pricing models, financial forecasts and long-range plans
    • Conduct regular financial reviews and risk assessments to identify potential issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Financial Reporting and Compliance:
    • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for programs and business units, in compliance with all federal regulations, including FAR, DFARS, and CAS, regulatory requirements and internal policies
    • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, variance analyses, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for program performance
    • Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations
  • Business Finance Leadership:
    • Lead the teams responsible for financial and operational analysis for all business units, providing strategic insights and financial guidance to support decision-making
    • Collaborate with program managers and business unit leaders to develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models
    • Provide assistance in business development activities, including pricing strategies, contract negotiations, and investment decisions
  • Strategic Financial Management:
    • Develop and execute financial strategies that support the organization’s overall objectives and program-specific goals
    • Identify financial risks and opportunities, providing actionable recommendations to senior leadership
    • Support long-term financial planning and scenario analysis to inform strategic decisions
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
    • Provide professional development opportunities to build a high-performing finance function
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Serve as a key financial liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including program managers, executives, auditors, and customers
    • Communicate financial performance, program status, and strategic initiatives to the Board of Directors and executive team

Objectives:

  • Ensure meticulous financial oversight of all programs, driving efficiency and accountability
  • Enhance the financial performance of business units through strategic planning, analysis, and decision support
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and implementing strong internal controls will mitigate financial risks and protect the organization’s interests
  • Provide strategic financial guidance, ensuring that program and business unit activities align with the organization’s long-term goals and objectives
  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth
  • Support the growth and expansion of the organization’s programs and business units

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in finance, accounting or related field
  • 8+ years of relevant government program control, financial and operational experience
  • 5+ years of management experience
  • Exceptional understanding of federal regulations including FAR, DFARS and CAS
  • Proven exceptional process management, financial acumen and P&L management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or CPA
  • Healthcare / IT experience
  • Proven experience driving business performance in a high growth environment
  • Proven ability to anticipate accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, and operational issues, assess their implications, determine their impact and develop and implement an appropriate action plan reporting, forecasting, and operational issues, assess their implications, determine their impact and develop and implement an appropriate action plan

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
