This Database Base Administration position will be located in the Howmet Engines shared services department and involves working in a close cross-functional team environment supporting Howmet’s IT Infrastructure. This is a cross-technology role supporting both Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases and technologies. Position can be located at any US Howmet Engines location, preference is given to Whitehall, MI location. Â
 Primary Responsibilities
- Proactively performing database monitoring and performance tuning.
- Help implement and maintain DB security controls that align with industry and regulatory requirements.
- Assess incidents and vulnerabilities, monitor patching status, configuration baselines, and review the results of various compliance test relating to Oracle technologies.
- Assist infrastructure staff with understanding performance and capacity monitoring aspects .
- Remain current on best practices and technological advancements and act as a technical resource for compliance.
- Develop, document, and revise system design procedures, test procedures, and security standards.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems. Will accept 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with Oracle / SQL Database Technologies.
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.
 Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience with DBA front-end and back-end tools
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Linux / Windows Operating system experience
- Working Knowledge of WebLogic, JBOSS and Oracle Forms
- Working knowledge and experience working with various scripting languages, including PowerShell, Bash and JavaScript.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Â
