This NPI ENGINEER - CAD position will be located in Howmet Whitehall Casting and will be responsible for supporting Process, Product and Manufacturing Engineering in developing support tooling designs (fixtures, gating dies) for new product introductions

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Using CAD software to create detailed 3D designs for a wide range of projects, including injection molded dies and fixtures.
- Estimating costs and delivery time.
- Determining make or buy decisions for tooling.
- Obtaining tooling quotations from suppliers, placing orders and managing tooling construction.
- Evaluating and interpreting specifications and blueprints.
- Recommending materials for tool production.
- Analyzing and improving current tooling methods to increase efficiency and reduce cost.
- Collaborating with engineers and manufacturing on design concepts.
- Collaborating with Advance Manufacturing Technology and implementing new automation techniques into production.
- Ensuring that all designs are in line with project specifications and guidelines.
- Presenting and explaining designs to stakeholders.
- Maintaining a database of all CAD drawings, ensuring they are organized and easily accessible for future reference.
- Provides data and documentation necessary for the manufacture of the product internally or by external suppliers.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field from an accredited institution.Â
- Fluency with 3D CAD modeling software.
- Working knowledge of standard tool room equipment, a plus.
- Sound understanding of engineering drafting principles.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of material properties, as related to die design.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software.
- Ability to effectively work/communicate as part of a project team.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and activities.
- Highly detailed and organized.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution in the following disciplines preferred: Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
- A minimum of 3 years tooling design and fabrication experience.
- Experience in the design of turbine/airfoil molds and dies a plus.
- Experience in designing tooling to support a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with blueprint reading and GD&T.
