About The Position

Barton Associates is seeking a Psychiatrist for a locum tenens assignment in Kansas. This opportunity involves providing weekend psychiatric coverage at a hospital setting, starting 07/07/2025, for a duration of 24 days spread over multiple weekends. The schedule requires coverage from Friday at 5pm to Monday at 8am, one weekend per month. The role encompasses on-call duties, rounding, and managing a diverse range of psychiatric cases, with a focus on geriatric psychiatry. Responsibilities include handling dementia, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, severe anxiety, and self-care failures. 

Job Details: 

Location: Kansas 

Facility Type: Hospital 

Start Date: 07/07/2025 

LOA: 24 days (spread over multiple weekends) 

Provider Type Needed: Psychiatrist 

Schedule: Friday 5pm to Monday 8am, one weekend per month

Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Provide on-call psychiatric coverage for multiple facilities 

• Perform rounds on psychiatric patients 

• Manage a wide range of psychiatric conditions, especially in geriatric patients 

• Handle cases involving dementia, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and severe anxiety 

• Offer consultation on complex cases to NPs when needed 

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams 

• Ensure high-quality patient care and maintain professional standards 

• Adapt to both on-call duties and in-person patient care

Additional Information: 

• Kansas medical license required 

• Experience in geriatric psychiatry preferred 

• Comfort with managing diverse and complex psychiatric cases 

• Ability to provide backup support for other providers 

• Flexibility for weekend scheduling 

• Potential for assignment extension
