Geisinger is seeking an additional full time neurohospitalist to join its coverage team based at Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre PA. A stroke fellowship is preferred, but not required. Full time neuro-hospitalist clinician teacher Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center (GWV) is northeast Pennsylvania’s premier tertiary care center with three hundred beds and home to the region’s only comprehensive stroke center, a level II trauma center, the Richard and Marion Pearsall Heart Hospital, the Frank M. and Dorothea Henry Cancer Center, and the Tambur Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. There are plans for a new acute care tower with expanded critical care beds. The neurohospitalist team manages a neurology consult service at GWV supported by advanced practitioners and residents. There is system wide telestroke and nighttime teleneurology coverage from the Geisinger system. This a shift work position with no nighttime call. Medical students from Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine rotate through the service, and there is new neurology residency opening at GWV next year, so there are many opportunities for teaching. Faculty appointments and more formal roles in education are available for qualified candidates. There is a robust video-EEG monitoring program, with remote reading from the Geisinger system. There is local support from neurology’s on-site multispecialty outpatient group. There is a competitive salary and opportunities for in-person and telemedicine moonlighting opportunities across the campus.
