Supervisor At The Toro Company:

As a Weld/Paint Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising employees within the welding and paints department so as to efficiently produce scheduled component parts and final assemblies of quality and quantity which is consistent with plant objectives. You may supervise other plant departments during off shift assignments.

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for: 

Supervision- 60%

Responsible for supervision of all employees assigned to area of responsibility.  Trains and evaluates new personnel in accordance with established department policies.  Handles employee discipline, grievances, pay rate adjustments and other company policy and working agreements. Calls manpower requirements to the attention of the Operations Manager or Human Resources.  Makes daily check of labor reports to determine inefficiencies and takes immediate corrective action. 

Process Controls- 15% 

Works closely with maintenance and engineers to ensure paint line processes are correct and proper preventive maintenance is being conducted. Meets required production and quality goals as determined by the Master Schedule.   Responsible for the operation of all paint application and pre-treatment equipment to include powder paint booths, dry off ovens, cure ovens, power washers, monorails, etc.  Responsible for operator PM's and arranges for necessary repair work with the Maintenance Supervisor.  Assists in setting, re-projecting and monitory the spending and labor budgets for the Paint Department in total.  Audits areas (direct/indirect) to ensure process are followed.   

Equipment Management- 15%

Ensures proper operation of equipment and tooling by working closely with the welding, maintenance or other engineers in the proper operation of the welding equipment or process.  May make adjustments or perform programming adjustments to robotic welders, and teach other to do so.

Safety- 10%

To insure that all safety rules and programs are followed and maintained within the assigned area of responsibility.  Train all Employees in Safety Rules and Procedures and consistently enforce policy.  Regularly conduct Safety and Right-to-know training required by OSHA - AWAIR.  Responsible for proper ergonomic work station set up, processes, tooling and safety equipment.  Insure employee job rotation according to established guidelines.  Conduct an accident investigation with the employee at the work site within 24 hours of incident.  Make reasonable efforts to accept the employee back to original work area and assist on proper assignment.  Responsible for the hazardous waste management of the paint department to include proper testing of all existing and potential waste streams and the proper disposal of all hazardous materials generated in the paint department. 

Job Dimensions

Supervise approximately 25-40 hourly employees.

Working Relationships

Continuous interaction with personnel in the Die Cast, Paint, Welding, Shipping and Receiving, and Assembly department. May participate in department planning meetings and task forces concerning quality and other production related topics.
