Salary

  • Starting salary $21.00+ BOE 
  • Shift differentials: 2nd shift/ $2.00, 3rd shift $3.00 - Ability to train on 1st shift for several months.
  • External hires are eligible for a $3,000 sign on bonus.

In the role of an FPI, your responsibilities will include:

- Conducting inspection operations, including receiving, final, and all in-process inspections for various part types.

- Processing materials through pre-clean operations before FPI.

- Operating the FPI line and conducting process checks.

- Carrying out daily and weekly calibration checks.

- Adhering to operational sheets and maintaining all quality records.

- Troubleshooting and resolving issues as they occur.

- Potentially receiving training and taking responsibility for heat treat furnaces.

 

Key Functions:

- Inspecting materials according to operation sheet specifications.

- Keeping accurate quality records.

- Gauging, setting up, and operating airflow, waterflow, and moment weigh systems.

- Packing, unpacking, and loading materials, as well as inspecting and replacing totes and liners when necessary.

- Processing parts through power wash, ultrasonic clean, FPI line, and pre-etch.

- Performing routine system and calibration checks daily and weekly on each shift.

- Replenishing penetrate supplies, materials, and other departmental supplies.

- Supporting Level II inspectors with parts handling.

- Maintaining at least an FPI Level I certification.

- Assisting in the training of new inspectors and FPI staff.

- Conducting high visual concentration inspections continuously for 2-hour periods.

- Addressing problems as needed and contacting a Quality Engineer or FPI Level 3 when necessary.

- Performing final inspections of parts according to OP sketch requirements.

- Conducting 6S audits and fulfilling other area-specific requirements.

- Upholding satisfactory attendance levels.

- Entering serial list numbers into the heat treat database.

Candidates must complete 160 hours of Level 1 processing and on-the-job training, plus 20 classroom hours, to qualify as a certified FPI Level I. Progression to FPI Level II will require additional on-the-job training and classroom hours.

Education:

High School diploma or GED

Skills and Abilities:

  •  Basic understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication and the division of numbers including decimal and fractions; simple use of formulas, charts tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, writing diagrams, computer scanning devices.
  • Basic skills and knowledge using adjustable measuring instruments for checking of reports, forms, records and comparable data; where interpretation is required involving basic skills knowledge.

Experience:

  • 1 year of manufacturing inspection. FPI experience preferred but not required
