Finance Assistant
Based in Cwmbach, Aberdare
Salary - £23,000 - £25,000
Working Hours 9 till 5 Monday to Friday
Established for over 25 years, Hammond ECS is a well-established, professional, socially responsible company operating across the civil engineering and rail infrastructure sectors.
We are looking for a Finance Assistant to join our small finance team and support the efficient management of the Companys financial operations.
Job Summary
This is a permanent office-based position, working closely with the finance and procurement teams as Finance Assistant you will play a key role in ensuring that the Companys financial records are accurate, up to date and compliant with internal policies, external regulations and support the smooth operation of our processes.
Key Responsibilities
Process purchase and supplier invoices and raise purchase orders ensuring accurate coding to project budgets or cost centres
Match purchase orders, delivery notes and invoices, resolving discrepancies promptly
Enter and update supplier information in the accounting system
Produce job costs
Reconcile supplier statements and assist in investigating and resolving any invoice queries
Prepare and process payment runs in accordance with agreed payment terms
Assist with month-end closing activities, including accruals and assist with preparing financial reports
Liaise with suppliers, sub-contractors and internal departments to resolve any payment issues
Verify sub-contractors via HMRC for CIS compliance
Assist with VAT compliance, ensuring that invoices are properly coded for VAT and recorded in line with HMRC regulations
Support the Finance Team with ad-hoc administrative tasks and projects as required
Requirements
At least one years previous experience in finance, preferably in a purchase order role within the construction industry
IT literate with strong skills in Microsoft Excel
A basic understanding of construction-related payment processes (e.g. CIS deductions, retention payments) would be an advantage
Good working knowledge of accounting software (the Company currently uses TAS training will be given)
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams and external suppliers
A proactive approach to resolving issues and a willingness to learn and develop in the role
Education & Qualifications
AAT level2 (or studying towards an AAT qualification) or equivalent is preferred, but not essential
GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English Language are required
