Vibe Recruit's client is seeking to hire a Purchasing Manager to join their team. In this key role, you will manage procurement operations for the contract manufacturing division, ensuring that all material needs are met in line with production schedules, budget goals, and quality standards.

Location - Aberdare

Salary - £45k - £50k

Hours of work - 39 hours per week

Duties of a Purchasing Manager

  • Strategic Sourcing: Design and execute sourcing strategies to procure components and services that fulfil quality, cost, and supply chain reliability standards. Negotiate supplier contracts to secure advantageous terms and conditions.
  • Supplier Management: Build and sustain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring adherence to company standards for quality, delivery, and cost. Perform regular audits and evaluate supplier performance consistently.
  • Cost Management: Continuously assess market trends and supplier options to lower costs while maintaining quality. Implement cost-saving initiatives and track the financial performance of procurement activities.
  • Inventory Control: Manage inventory levels to prevent stockouts or overstocking, ensuring optimal stock turnover and minimizing holding costs.
  • Risk Management: Identify and address risks related to supply chain disruptions, including geopolitical factors, natural disasters, and market shortages.
  • Identifying materials critical processes and critical success factors.
  • Coordinate with other departments to facilitate issue resolution and engage in cross-functional team projects.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in procurement or purchasing, ideally within the electronics or manufacturing sector.
  • Proven track record in achieving cost reductions and efficiency improvements in purchasing.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a history of securing favourable contracts.
  • Excellent understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Certification in purchasing or supply chain management (C.P.M., CPSM, or equivalent) is a plus.
