Carbon60 are currently working in partnership with a unique manufacturing business based in Abingdon to recruit a Junior Electrical Engineer to work alongside the Lead Electrical Engineer on electrical designs, fault finding and support the commissioning of special purpose machinery that incorporates laser technology.

The business specialises on the design, development and build of bespoke made to order machinery utilizing laser technology to perform complex tasks. Working within a wide selection of sectors that include medical, FMCG, energy and manufacturing.

This position will be varied working within both the design and testing areas to learn the full life cycle of the machine development process and then supporting the engineers through the process.

We are looking for someone who wants to learn and develop but also has a good foundation knowledge to work from, ideally electrical design with some practical elements. This could suit a graduate who has around a year worth of practical experience or it could suit an experience engineer who is looking for a new challenge in a unique business.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Produce single line and schematic diagrams using Solidworks electrical.
  • Maintain and create symbols for Solidworks electrical libraries.
  • Assist in the commissioning of machines.
  • Electrical fault finding.
  • Electrical safety testing.
  • Provide electrical calculations where required.
  • Create and maintain documentation for technical project files.
  • Create machine test documentation.
  • Contribute to the content of user operation manuals.
  • Liaise with shop floor to ensure machines are built to set standards.

Experience Required:

  • Formal education in electrical engineering e.g. Degree, Masters or HNC for example.
  • At least 1 year's experience within an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of electrical designs or ability to create electrical schematics using CAD software.
  • Ability to ready and interpret electrical schematics.
  • A problem-solving mentality.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop.
