Our client, a pioneering entity in the space sector, is seeking an Intermediate Optics Systems Engineer to join their rapidly growing team in Didcot/Harwell. Specialising in advanced space sensors for exploration missions and space-based communication technology, this role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to some of the most exciting projects in the space industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing a technical interface to customers and subcontractors
- Determining customer needs and managing engineering requirements
- Developing innovative solutions and producing system budgets
- Analysing performance and justifying design choices
- Supervising design, integration, and test phases
- Planning and conducting test campaigns; analysing test data
- Troubleshooting hardware and software for space missions
- Delivering verified flight equipment compliant to customer requirements
Job Requirements:
Essential:
- Experience in design, manufacture and test of complex technological systems
- Knowledge of optics, optical sensors, and opto-mechanical assemblies
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Familiarity with formal configuration control methods
- Understanding of qualification and acceptance environmental testing
- Experience with systems engineering and test procedure development
Desirable:
- Familiarity with ECSS standards
- Experience working with systems designed for space environments
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Visual Basic, MATLAB/C or C++
- Hands-on experience in manufacturing, assembly, and testing
